Article # 402
Title WirelessGRID WG-300S Radio Settings Tab
Abstract WirelessGRID-300 Radio Settings Tab - Provides Setup Information for the WirelessGRID-300 Outdoor Wireless Ethernet Bridge

Help Topics - WirelessGRID-300 Radio Link Configuration

This tab is used to enter and change several WirelessGRID-300 radio operating parameters.

Radio Link Configuration:

WirelessGRID-300 ID. Edit the wireless bridge link name. Note that both bridges on the link must use the same link name.

Remote MAC Address. Enter the MAC address of the remote WirelessGRID-300 on this wireless link. Note that the remote WirelessGRID-300 must have the MAC address of this bridge in its corresponding field.

Data Encoding. Select the desired data encoding for your WirelessGRID-300. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is 802.11a, while the Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) is 802.11n which has higher data rates.

MCS Options. When MCS data encoding has been selected the MCS options may be accessed. You can select channels of 20MHz, 40MHz with upper extension and 40MHz with lower extension. Next, choose one or two data streams. Finally, if 40MHz channels are being used, a Guard Interval of 400ns or 800ns is chosen. Note that 40MHz channels, 2 streams and 400ns GI give the fastest rates.

Transmission Rate. Select the desired Data Rate from the drop-down menu. The Data Rates that appear in the Data Rate drop-down menu are dependent on the Data Encoding (and possibly MCS Options) specified. Select a fixed rate if the radio conditions will not change, otherwise use AUTO. The AUTO rate specifies that the WirelessGRID-300 will dynamically select the optimum rate for transmission regardless of radio conditions. Note that AUTO will disable Hardware Retries.

Center Frequency. Select the desired channel Center Frequency from the drop-down menu. The frequencies that appear in the Data Rate drop-down menu are dependent on the Data Encoding (and possibly MCS options) specified.

Transmit Power. Select the desired Transmit Power from the drop-down menu. The Transmit Power options that appear in the drop-down menu are dependent on the current Country Code.

Software Retries. Software Retries are not enabled at this time.

Hardware Retries. Select the number of Hardware Retries, or additional transmit attempts if a packet fails to successfully transmit the first time. The range is from 0 to 14. This option is disabled when the AUTO Transmission Rate is selected.

Distance. Enter the distance to the remote bridge. The units can be in meters, kilometers, yards or miles.

Follow these steps to update the Radio Link Configuration:

  1. Update the appropriate fields.
  2. Click Update.
  3. Wait for updating to complete.
  4. Click Reboot to make the changes effective.
