Rain, Fog, and Clouds
Article # 328
Title Rain, Fog, and Clouds
Abstract Except in extreme conditions, attenuation (weakening of the signal) due to preciptation such as rain, fog or clouds does not require serious consideration for frequencies in the range 5GHz range. The AI108 operates in the 5GHz range.
Generally, a 5GHz system such as the AI108 will not be adversely affected by rain, fog, or clouds.

The estimated loss due to attenuation on an AI108 link should be in 10ths of a dB.

Note: When microwave frequencies are at 10 GHz or above, attenuation due to rain becomes much more of a concern, especially in areas where rainfall is of high density and long duration.
